CUPAR BURNS CLUB

Instituted 1884. Federated 1893.

This poem was used as a greeting at the annual dinner in 2009.

GREETINGS TO KINDRED CLUBS.

As Cupar’s greetings gae oot to a’ oor fieres

In the north, south, east and west

The Janwar nicht Rabbie chapped oor door

An came awa’ in at oor behest.

A’ oor clatter ceased in awe an wunner

Rabbie stopped without a sound

To  see sae large a ha’ lighted like day

Wi’ sae mony men seated around

Again the spiel  started wi’ excited sound!

His ain verse recited loud and well

What joyous emotion lighted up his een

Amang guid folks just like himsel.

Rabbie spoke oot wi’ a’ his wisdom an’ wit

To be thankit wi’ such a glorious roar

Pity those wha just couldna’ understand

The Janwar nicht Rabbie chapped oor door.
