GREETINGS TO OOR FIERES

Greetings to oor fieres frae every airt the  wind can blow

Asking Burnsians to appreciate a’ his  mony sage advices

The cottar tells o’ family life an ‘ grace God can  bestow

Hard work will gar’ thee weel  through a’ life’s surprises

The mousie foresees how faur agley oor plans can often go,

Hae compassion for man an’ nature, nae matter wha despises.

To see oursels as ithers see us, is a gift aboon the rest,

Free frae blunder an’ foolish notion, we wad be truly blest!

Strive to be honest in a’ ye dae, tho’ fate may be agin you,

An’ wi’ an independent mind despise deception and deceit;

Aye hae a vision o’ world peace, wi’ every man a brother true.

Tak heed of the advice to Andrew an’ mak’ your life complete,

The young friend’s epistle is wondrous, weel worthy o’ review!

Tam o’ Shanter tells of danger when drink an’ Cutty – sarks meet.

By heeding a’ Rabbie’s counsels, we can flourish and succeed,

So pray for the courage an’ wisdom to better reck the rede.
